About Mrs. Merrett

Welcome to Edison Elementary! 

I am excited to partner with you in the learning career of your student! I have been working at Edison Elementary for three years now, my first two years I taught 1st Grade and am moving to Kindergarten this school year.

I graduated from Wayne State University in the winter of 2016, receiving my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Integrated Science. Prior to attending Wayne State I received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Schoolcraft Community College. In high school I cheered for our football and basketball teams, participated in Student Council, as well as chairing in our Leadership class and was a member of our Yearbook team.

I got married almost two years ago, to my wonderful husband and together we enjoy travelling, playing card games like SkipBo, and watching movies. I have three younger siblings and through marriage have two older brothers! My family has one pet dog, Ajax, who loves going for walks, having his ears scratched, and pretending he is a lap dog.

I pursued a career in teaching because I enjoy helping others learn, there is something amazing that happens when you see the light bulb of a young mind light up when they master a concept!
